This 80" x 86" African Queen, or International Sisterhood, quilt was created and hand-quilted with love to acknowledge, honor and celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of our African Queens and Sisters of Nova Scotia.
Each quilted queen is bold, strong and vibrant as demonstrated by the bright colorful fabrics. Each representing the diversity and magnificence of our African Queens and Sisters. In Nova Scotia, the 2021 African Heritage Month theme is Black History Matters: Listen, Learn, Share and Act. The theme brings focus and increased awareness of racialized issues of a community that has overcome great adversity for inclusion. It further calls on us to listen, learn, share and act to make society a better place. To learn more, click here.

Last night I sewed the last stitch on my handmade Nova Scotia Strong Quilt of Hope. This quilt was created out of inspiration, compulsion and love - there's hope in every stitch. We will never forget. We will move forward. This quilt will be used as a fundraiser for the After Trauma Empowerment Network (ATEN - www.atenns.ca). Tickets will be available in September 2020.
